deja vu.

Remember when I was in Jerusalem and I pulled an all-nighter?
I stayed up the entire night (for the first time ever) to edit the "Goodbye Sterling" video.
(If you don't remember what I'm talking about read the "Thursday" section of this blog post.

I don't remember a lot about the following day,
but there are a few things I clearly remember:

It snowed! [IN JERUSALEM.]
aaaand I had to take a midterm.
[which I actually did surprisingly well on thankyouverymuch :))

So, here I am...6-7 months later...

Last night I did not sleep a wink.
I did not put on my pajamas.
I did not lay my head down on my pillow.

At about 2:30 a.m. I was putting the finishing touches on the music video I'd been working on.
My computer kept telling me "start up disc is full" and would freeze up until i deleted something.
After some frustration, I was determined to delete AS MANY things as i could, just so i was SURE to have enough memory to finish the project.

Somewhere during that process...imovie shut down. FOR GOOD.
(or so i thought...)

I didn't know what to do. I tried to recover it for probably 20 minutes, but it was GONE
The application "imovie" was NOWHERE to be found!
....what the heck?! how does that even happen???
I searched EVERYWHERE on my computer...
literally asking myself the question "if I were imovie where would I go?"
[people are allowed to have crazy thoughts during hours that they should be sleeping--don't judge.]

After a few minutes reality set in:
it. was. gone.

My heart literally sank.

After a quick prayer, I realized:
It could have been SO much worse!
At least I still had ALL of the video files,
and my roommate had a mac!

I woke her up just enough to ask to borrow her computer for a few hours
and set to work

I started the video ALL over again, and finished at 7:20. a.m.
uploaded it to youtube,
and emailed the link to the person in charge before 8:00 a.m. (just as directed).

(Did I mention that this project was for an 8:30a.m. work talent show?)

I was out the door by 8:08 a.m.
As luck would have it, a girl from my complex saw me walking and offered to give me a ride!

Tender mercies are REAL!

Want to know the craziest part?

it snowed today. [first snow of the season]
AND. I have a midterm.

HAHAHAHA. WHAT ARE THE CHANCES?!

(...Here's to hoping this one goes as well as the last one i took on 0 sleep :))

Now, enough of that!!
This is what you're really here for :)

(let's face it. I pretty much have the best job. ever.)

OH what a life I LIVE!

Yousday Tuesday!

(Deepest apologies for the lack of a yous-day tuesday post last week--it was a BUSY week!
And this week I'm afraid is just as busy...)

I went to True Blue this year! (See picture above.) WOOHOO! (It was actually a few weeks ago, but I finally tracked down this picture.) That means I can officially cross it off my BYU Bucket List. I'm not opposed to going at least one more time while being at BYU, but I've now gone twice in 4 years and I'm pretty content with that :)

A work music video is currently in production! ...check back in a couple days and it very well may be posted here for your viewing pleasure :)

I typically prefer snow over rain (and it looks like it's going to start snowing soon).

I've secretly always wanted a (fake) brown leather jacket, and finally got one this past weekend! (I'm sure I'll post pics eventually ;))

I actually love cleaning checks!

It takes me (on average) 10 minutes to completely curl my hair. (The Conair 1 inch curling iron is magical I tell you.)

I can blow spit bubbles. (TMI? Eh, some people think it's kinda cool.)

The radio in my car is broken and I actually kinda like it that way.

I still have trouble distinguishing the difference between "affect" and "effect."

I've never been very good at remembering birthdays.

I'm going to Colorado this weekend!!!!! :) It will be fun to get out of Provo with some friends. I'll probably blog about that too...yet another reason to check back later!

Welp...back to homework it is :/

Oh what a life I live,

PS The guy with me in the pic above is a friend from JERU, and no we are not holding hands even though it totally looks like we are. haha.

the moon-walking violinist.

Incredible,
inspirational,
 talented,
 passionate,
 quirky,
fun.
Wow.

(If the embedded link doesn't work, watch it on youtube...I promise it's worth it.)

Lindsey Stirling is a BYU alum who loves performing the violin. She actually competed on the show "America's Got Talent" and did fairly well! The main critique she got from the show was that her talent wasn't "marketable."

Well...dear judges, I would beg to differ.

Watching her perform live (as I had the opportunity to do last Thursday) was truly an incredible and inspirational experience. If you ever have the chance to see her perform, I would strongly encourage you to do so!

(In the Venue in SLC.
Can you see me?! haha.
Actually I was a few feet behind the last row in this picture...But I was there!
This picture was taken from Lindsey's Facebook Page.)

(It was pretty dark and a little smokey,
but I needed some proof we were actually there :))

Sick of the videos yet? Well, how about just one more?! :) This video she had playing in the background while she performed this song and it really was powerful. When she performed it for us, she also did the vocals and changed the words from "We Found Love in a Hopeless Place" to "We Found Love in a Whole New Place." Not only can she play the violin...she can sing too!
 And WOW, she is good!

Thanks to T-Bone (Danielle) for inviting me along and joining me on such a fun outing!

the BYU bucket list.

This week's YOUSDAY-TUESDAY will include the things that I've always wanted to do/will do while at BYU (not to worry, I strategically arranged to graduate a few years late, just to ensure I will have ample time to accomplish all of these things ;)).

hike the Y
hike the Y during the official "Y lighting ceremony" (Homecoming week)
take an ice skating class (x2)
go skiing or snowboarding
attend general conference at the conference center
ipod dance party in the library
participate in a dinner group
float down the Provo River
ride in a golf cart on Campus
be on the jumbotron during a football game
get a free t-shirt from a football game
be quoted and/or photographed in The Universe (BYU's newspaper)
eat a meal at the hospital cafeteria, just for fun
get paid to participate in a BYU study
go on a study abroad
sample food from the test tasting lab in the Eyring
drive through the Alpine Loop during Fall just 'cuz it's pretty :)
camp out for the 4th of July
watch a movie at the international cinema
Comedysportz
Vocal Point concert
$2 Tuesdays at Thanksgiving point  (would definitely do that one again)
go to True Blue football 2x
Haunted corn maze
go to the roof of the SWKT
eat dinner at Gloria's Little Italy  (10/5/13)
watch the sunset from provo canyon

I just realized "graduate" isn't actually on the list...hahahhaaha. Well. at least I know where my priorities are, right? ;) (JUST KIDDING mom and dad :) 'graduate' is a given)!

I imagine that I'll be adding to this list...but at least it's a start!
(sad that it's taken me so long to finally compile one.)

Oh what a life I'm livin',

fall is like a second spring where all the leaves are flowers.

It's sad to think that it's my fourth year in provo, and this is the first year that I've really appreciated FALL.

It's SO beautiful! How did I not recognize this before?!

This week Daniel and my mom are in town, so yesterday I went up to Midway to watch General Conference with them (and my grandparents). After the second session and before Priesthood, Daniel took me on a ride in grandma and grandpa's razor

(Open your eyes, Daniel!!)

(please excuse the fact that I look like a boy in this picture.)

...after much thought, I've decided that aside from the fact that the weather is getting colder,
I actually really like fall.

Thanks for the fun ride, Daniel! And thanks for letting us take out the Razor, Gramps and Gram!

Oh what a life I live!

PS I can't take credit for the title, I saw it on someone else's facebook and just decided it was just too good to keep to myself!

dance like only you can hear the music.

First off: Deepest apologies for not having a 'yousday tuesday' post tuesday... it's been a busy week.

Last Night?
Three Words: Ipod Dance Party.
Three Words: Best thing ever.
Three Words: Bless Ashley's soul.

The Theme? Hipster.

The Location? Between the RB and the Tanner (and anywhere/everywhere there about).

Seriously CAN'T WAIT til the next one.

(If you are having trouble remembering what an ipod dance party is I have a few suggestions:
you could try doing  this , or you could reread this ridiculously long blogpost, (if you read just the WEDNESDAY section it will explain it).

Oh what a life I live!

DISCLAIMER: I am not nor do I claim to be a hipster. Just in case you were curious ;)

Muddy Buddies.

After getting back from Jerusalem, a bunch of us JC kids, decided to all do the "Dirty Dash" together in Midway this past Saturday.

We chose to go with an "80s Workout" themed wardrobe.
After a few trips to D.I. I think we were lookin' pretty good!

(...Apparently Jen and Tucker didn't get "no smiling" the memo.)

(As you can see...I opted to keep my hair and face mostly away from the mud...Apparently I'm not as daring as the others.)

Am I glad I did it? Yes.
Was it unlike anything I've ever done before? YES!
Would it do it again? ....Probably not.

But hey, like they say: YOLO
 (You Only Live Once)
so I'm glad I was able to get this experience in ;)

Oh what a life I live!

Yous-Day Tuesday.

Well aren't you a lucky bunch!
You get to know a few more interesting (or maybe not interesting) facts about yours truly!
(I just have to post this quickly so it's still tuesday....)

-I literally cannot look at this picture (above) without laughing. It's just so funny and awkward and I look like such a loner. hahahhahaa. I don't even know why I think it's so funny, it just is! Sometimes I look at it when I need to laugh. (And yes I am chuckling to myself right this very second.)

-I never know what to say when people compliment my freckles (...it's kind of a weird compliment).

-I get paid to drive a golf cart and tell people about how great BYU is. (In all honesty I would probably do that for free...but why not get paid for it?!)

-Recent addiction: thrifting. I've always heard wonderful things about it, but I'm finally on board. ...I've gone three times in the last month!

-Traveling to Germany is high on my "bucket list."

-Most of my weird quirks I attribute to the fact that I am left handed.

-If I had $1300 to spare I would buy a Canon- Rebel EOS 60D18-200IS 18.0-Megapixel DSLR Camera. (Or something along those lines. hahaha.) (I got to take some pictures on my friend's camera the other day and it was a life changing experience...from googling what I remember about that camera this is what I found.)

-I have a super power: the ability to sleep anytime, anywhere. Tried, tested and true. Promise.

-I do my best work under pressure.

Check back tomorrow for a post about my fun [mud] filled Saturday!

"Yousday Tuesday" *No Copyright Infringement Intended ;)

On one of the many blogs I follow, the girl posts a list of facts about herself every Tuesday.
(I'm not entirely sure why she calls it "Yousday Tuesday" but I'm just going with it.)
Since I always find her posts interesting, I decided to try it out myself
:)

Tutku Cookies (as shown above) were my not-so-secret addiction in Jerusalem. Nutella INSIDE a cookie?! Genius.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when men don't wear their wedding rings.

People tell me I look like a Whoo (from The Grinch) on a fairly regular basis.

I LOVE making TO DO lists. (I purposely put things on them that I've already done just so I can check them off.)

I think raisins are the worst thing that could have ever happened to trail mix...and to oatmeal cookies.

I'm pretty good at remembering people's faces, but terrible at remembering names.

I am willing to go to great lengths for free stuff (including 3 different locations to track down free Papa Johns Pizza at last week's ward FHE activity).

When I don't feel like doing homework (which is more often than I should admit) I am likely watching TV episodes on Hulu or reading other people's blogs. (Facebook doesn't hold my attention very long nowadays, blog-stalking has become much more entertaining.)

French toast is one of my favorite things in the whole world, I have a whole board dedicated to it on pinterest.

I love filling out surveys. One time I won $100 for the BYU Bookstore just because I completed a survey. WAHOO!

Videos of the Jerusalem Center make me incredibly nostalgic. Pictures surprisingly not so much, but videos..."Oh my heart."

Well there you have it folks, 11 random facts you may-or-may-not have known about me :)

Check back next Tuesday and maybe (if you're lucky) I'll post a few more!

Scared Silly

Tomorrow I will be teaching a kindergarten class for P.E.
Only 30 minutes...it can't be that bad right?!

I'm terrified.

Who knew Kindergarteners could be so scary?
(They're really not, I'm just a scardy-cat.)

At least I have my whistle, and my very official-looking picture badge complete with finger print...
So if nothing else....I'll LOOK legit :)

Oh what a life I live!
